There is also an adapter by the same name with a Texas Instruments ACX100 chipset (FCC ID: KA2DWL-650PLUSB1) and may not be compatible. Mine says it's not present but shows up (i think) with lspci. Uncompress the package (tarzxvfacx111-combo-firmware.tar.gz or unzipDWL-G650+_rev_Bx_Drv_v202.zip) and cd to the directory containing the right firmware image (either 126.96.36.199 or WinXP). The only time I have experienced a system crash like that when inserting a wireless PCMCIA card was when the card (which was working prior) had a hardware failure. Consider not buying these cards! (plus, the 650+ seems to be defective/problematic much more often than other cards, in my experience) I do see the driver listed in Module-assistant in Debian If the card works, the Link led should lit up.
